We got an early start this past weekend, getting to the trailhead and hiking by 8:30. Temp
was 25 degrees and cloudy with on and off snow showers. We made short work accending
the 3061 ft mountain. As we made the summit the clouds broke and were treated to what
is one of the best views in the Adirondacks. Winds were calm on the top.
Being a diabetic my right foot tends to get cold fast as was the case yesterday. So, as I was
bringing the water to a boil, I thought hmmm, once the hot water is in the bag rehydrating
our lunch which takes about 10 minutes why not but my foot up againest the hot bag to warm.
Work like a charm. We ate a hot lunch and I had warm feet. Stayed for 40 mins the started our decend.
It was the best of both worlds, fall at the bottom and winter with 2 in. of snow on top. Next hike
we will most likely be using Micro- Spikes. Another great day in the ADK.
