2017 Winter Carnivals & Festivals In The Adirondacks

Winter is a magical time in the Adirondacks when communities come together to celebrate all that the region has to offer! Below, you’ll find a list of the many winter carnivals and festivals that take place each winter. Most include competitions, games, food, fireworks, and family-friendly fun! Be sure to double-check with each event’s organizers before attending, as some of the happenings are weather-dependent.

Long Lake Winter Carnival

When: Saturday, January 14, 2017
Where: Mt. Sabattis, Geiger Arena, Long Lake
Highlights: Cardboard sled racing, free ice skating, wacky hat competition, fireworks display

WinterFest in the Heart of the Park

When: Saturday, January 14, 2017
Where: Town of Newcomb
Highlights: Snowmobile rides, sledding, ice fishing demonstrations, demos, and bonfires

Winter Weekends at Camp Santanoni

When: January 14 – 16, February 18 – 20, and March 18 – 19, 2017
Where: Camp Santanoni, 58 Newcomb Lake Road, Newcomb
Highlights: Access to historic camp properties, tours, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing

Old Forge Winter Carnival

When: Friday, February 10 – Sunday, February 12, 2017
Where: McCauley Mountain, Old Forge
Highlights: Daredevil jumpers, torchlight skiing, coronation of King & Queen, fireworks

Saranac Lake Winter Carnival

When: Friday, February 3 – Sunday, February 12, 2017
Where: Saranac Lake
Highlights: Ice Palace, traditional winter sports, gala parade, non-traditional activities

Lake George Winter Carnival

When: Weekends in February 2017
Where: Lake George Village
Highlights: Parade, outhouse races, ATV races, fireworks

SnoCade at Indian Lake

When: Friday, February 17 – Sunday, February 26, 2017
Where: Indian Lake
Highlights: Snowmobile tours and races, star gazing, comedy shows

Krazy Downhill Derby

When: Saturday, February 18, 2017
Where: Dynamite Hill, Chestertown
Highlights: Prizes awarded for the fastest, most creative, and funniest sleds

Raquette Lake Winter Carnival

When: Saturday, February 18 – Sunday, February 19, 2017
Where: Raquette Lake
Highlights: Ladies frying pan toss, ice golf, bonfire

Adirondack White Out Weekend

When: Friday, February 17 – Sunday, February 19, 2017
Where: Towns of Clifton & Fine
Highlights: Family fun winter triathlon, guided snowshoe hikes, wildlife presentations, interactive children’s event

Lake Placid Nordic Festival

When: Friday, February 24 – Sunday, February 26, 2017
Where: Lake Placid
Highlights: Instructional clinics, kids terrain park challenge, ski orienteering, Lake Placid Loppet ski marathon races

Brant Lake Winter Carnival

When: Saturday, February 25, 2017
Where: Ice in front of Jimbo’s Club at the Point, NY-8, Brant Lake
Highlights: Human Foosball games, vintage snowmobile rides, outhouse races, bonfires, ice bowling, and broom-ball tournaments

Frozen Fire & Lights / Cardboard Sled Race

When: Saturday, February 25, 2017
Where: Inlet, NY
Highlights: Cardboard sled race, snowmobile races for kids, live music, fireworks

Ticonderoga End of Winter Carnival

When: Saturday, March 4, 2017
Where: Ticonderoga Armory, Ticonderoga, NY
Highlights: Snowmobile rides, mini-golf, broom ball, big screen Wii & DDR, magic show, and carnival games
